CSA DIVER CERTIFICATES by DCBC

"The Diver Certification Board of Canada issues certificates to occupational diving personnel who can demonstrate the appropriate competencies described in CSA Standard Z275.4 Competency standard for diving, hyperbaric chamber, and remotely. "

The Diver Certification Board of Canada issues the following certificates to occupational diving personnel who can demonstrate the appropriate competencies described in CSA Standard Z275.4 Competency standard for diving, hyperbaric chamber, and remotely operated vehicle operations.

Bell Diving Supervisor
This certificate allows the holder to supervise lockout-oriented bell diving operations at all depths using breathing mixtures other than air. Holders of this certification usually work in support of offshore hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production and in support of offshore construction.

Closed Bell Diver
This certificate allows the holder to work as a lockout-oriented bell diver at depths greater than 70 metres while breathing mixtures other than air. Holders of this certification usually work in support of offshore hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production and in support of offshore construction.

Hyperbaric Chamber Operator
Dive-support hyperbaric chamber operators can work from a shore base, from vessels and barges of various sizes, or from small floating platforms. They are required to work in all types of weather and environmental conditions and to conduct field maintenance on hyperbaric chamber systems. In contrast, clinical hyperbaric chamber operators commonly work in hospitals, wound care clinics, and critical care facilities. Logs must be as chamber operator, not as inside attendant, and may be for multiplace or monoplace chambers.

Inshore Diving Safety Specialist
The inshore diving safety specialist is an individual who demonstrates extensive competence in inshore diving operations through a combination of training, knowledge, and experience. To assist consulting engineers, clients, contractors, and supervisors in operational procedures, legislated due diligence requirements, quality assurance, and risk assessment, an inshore diving safety specialist applies this competence to specific diving projects to which he or she is assigned.

Life Support Supervisor (LSS)
This certificate allows the holder to supervise life support operations within the lockout oriented bell diving (saturation diving) complex.

Hyperbaric Life Support Technician (LST)
The primary responsibility of an LST is maintaining an environment to sustain life within the lockout oriented bell diving (saturation diving) complex.  The LSTs job includes appropriately maintaining oxygen levels, carbon dioxide levels, temperature & humidity.

Offshore Air Diving Supervisor
This certificate allows the holder to supervise air diving operations in support of gas and oil operations or diving in waters under the jurisdiction of the National Energy Board of Canada (including waters controlled by Canadian petroleum boards).

Offshore Diving Safety Specialist (Bell Diving)
The offshore diving safety specialist is an individual who demonstrates extensive competence in offshore diving operations through a combination of training, knowledge, and experience, and applies this competence to the specific diving project for which the appointment was issued.

Offshore Diving Safety Specialist (Surface Supplied)
The offshore diving safety specialist is an individual who demonstrates extensive competence in offshore diving operations through a combination of training, knowledge, and experience, and applies this competence to the specific diving project for which the appointment was issued.

Restricted Surface Supplied Diver
This certificate allows the holder to dive using surface-supplied diving equipment to a maximum depth of 30 metres. Holders of this certification often work in seafood harvesting, aquaculture, underwater engineering inspections, archaeological investigation, police operations, underwater film production and emergency services rescue response

Restricted Surface Supplied Supervisor
This certificate allows the holder to supervise restricted surface supplied diving operations not involving power tools.

ROV Pilot/technician Level 1
ROV Operator category specific to Classes l and ll or Classes III and IV

ROV Pilot/technician Level 2
The entry level qualification applicable to all classes of ROV

ROV Senior Pilot/technician
Senior ROV Operator, category specific to Class I, II, III, or IV

ROV Pilot/Technician Supervisor
Supervisor of ROV operations, category specific to the Class I, II, III, or IV

SCUBA Supervisor
This certificate allows the holder to supervise both Restricted and Unrestricted SCUBA divers.

Surface Supplied Mixed Gas Diver
This certificate allows the holder to dive using surface-supplied mixed-gas diving equipment to a maximum depth of 70 metres. Holders of this certification often work in underwater engineering inspections, archaeological investigation, police operations, underwater film production and mixed-gas diving operations in support of hydrocarbon exploration, development and production and in support of marine construction.

Surface Supplied Mixed Gas Supervisor
This certificate allows the holder to supervise surface supplied mixed gas diving operations.

Surface Supplied Tender
Tenders are part of the diver’s surface support team. They assist the diver during dressing-in, while the dive is underway, and during post-dive activities. Surface-supplied tenders work in the same diving categories as the surface-supplied diver.

Occupational SCUBA Diver
This certificate allows the holder to dive on self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA).  Holders of this certification often work in seafood harvesting, aquaculture, underwater engineering inspections, archaeological investigation, police operations, underwater film production and emergency services rescue response.

Unrestricted Surface Supplied Diver
This certificate allows the holder to dive using surface-supplied diving equipment to a maximum depth of 50 metres. In addition to the working categories listed under Restricted Surface-supplied Diver, holders of this certification often work in the support of offshore hydrocarbon development and production and in support of marine construction.

Unrestricted Surface Supplied Supervisor
This certificate allows the holder to supervise inshore unrestricted surface supplied diving operations involving power tools and deck decompression chambers.
