Job description:

Plan, coordinate, and supervise commercial diving operations for underwater construction, inspection, installation, repair, and maintenance activities on marine and industrial infrastructure projects, including bridges, hydroelectric dams, marine terminals, and pipelines, in accordance with project requirements, site specifications, and applicable Canadian regulations and CSA diving standards.
Direct and oversee dive teams during underwater structural inspections of bridge piers, dam components, intake structures, submerged foundations, marine structures, and other underwater assets to support assessments, maintenance planning, and regulatory compliance.
Develop and review dive plans, job hazard assessments, risk assessments, emergency procedures, and work plans to ensure diving operations are properly planned and conducted in a safe and efficient manner. Coordinate daily dive activities with project managers, site supervisors, engineers, clients, vessel crews, and other trades as required.
Supervise and monitor underwater construction, installation, remediation, welding, cutting, rigging, assembly, salvage, and recovery operations, ensuring work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and project requirements.
Ensure dive teams are properly equipped and prepared prior to beginning operations, including verification of diving equipment, life-support systems, communications, emergency equipment, tooling, rigging, and other specialized marine construction equipment.
Monitor diving operations from the surface and maintain effective communication with divers and support personnel throughout each dive. Maintain oversight of diver safety, bottom times, decompression requirements, environmental conditions, equipment, and operations.
Coordinate and verify underwater measurements, positioning, alignment, installation, and inspection activities to ensure work is completed accurately and in accordance with project specifications and engineering requirements.
Review and document underwater observations, measurements, photographs, video recordings, inspection findings, and site conditions. Prepare and review detailed dive logs, dive reports, inspection reports, daily records, and other project documentation.
Ensure all diving activities are conducted in compliance with applicable Canadian occupational health and safety legislation, CSA diving standards, company procedures, project-specific requirements, and client safety programs.
Coordinate maintenance, rehabilitation, inspection, and repair activities for marine and industrial infrastructure, ensuring dive operations are effectively integrated with surface construction activities and overall project schedules.
Supervise salvage and recovery operations, including underwater rigging and lifting activities, ensuring appropriate procedures, equipment, personnel, and safety controls are in place.
Provide leadership, training, and guidance to dive team members and support personnel, promoting safe work practices, operational efficiency, and professional standards throughout all diving activities.
Liaise with project management, engineering personnel, clients, vessel operators, and site crews to coordinate diving activities, communicate progress and site conditions, resolve operational issues, and support successful project completion.
